Just what is Valentine’s Day? Saint Valentine’s Day or The Feast of Saint Valentine does hark back to many martyrdom stories about a Christian saint by that name, with a touching legend of how he was imprisoned for marrying Christians under the Roman Empire rule and while there, he healed the jailer’s daughter. To this day it is celebrated in the Anglican and Lutheran church with a feast. In 18th-century England, it evolved into an occasion in which lovers expressed their love for each other by presenting flowers, offering confectionery, and sending hand-written greeting cards (known as “valentines”).
Later 20th and early 21st centuries, these customs have also spread to other countries along with other aspects of American pop culture, and interestingly it’s now Chinese and South Koreans spending the most money on Valentine’s gifts according to Wikipedia. Chocolates, flowers and cards are popular gifts.
Coworking is about sharing and working not alone of course, so in the spirit of Valentine’s Day Kleverdog Coworking thought it would be fun to encourage our members and others to bring a friend/spouse/significant-other and cowork with us for free. We hope to see you Friday Feb. 14th!
