The signs are going up as we speak for this Sunday’s CicLAvia ride called “Iconic Wilshire Boulevard”. Named as such because the route will begin here in Downtown where Wilshire Blvd begins and continue straight across LA to end at the “Miracle Mile” in front of LACMA. The route can be found on their website: http://www.ciclavia.org/files/map_040614-6065.pdf
It’s promising to be a fun day where the street is shut off to traffic and open to everyone to ride your bike, skateboard, walk or even rollerblade along the street. There are rest stops along the 6 mile route starting with the One Wilshire Hub featuring a climbing wall from REI, photo booths and even yoga! The next stop is Macarthur Park featuring vendors and food trucks and the local businesses will have special events as well. Then there’s another pitstop in Koreatown featuring Korean cultural games and prizes, food sampling, entertainment (Choco-pie Eating Contest, Karaoke Contest, Ktown Pop Quiz) and free Choco-pies? But thats not all, keep on riding to get to the Mid-Wilshire Hub where all the museums are open to the public with various events for the kids – so many that you will have to check the listing here: http://www.ciclavia.org/events/872/iconic-wilshire-boulevard/893/along-the-route
We love that “the Mid City West Community Council will also hold their Miracle Mile Art Walk during CicLAvia. Galleries along Wilshire Boulevard and on surrounding streets will be open during the event.” Awesome sauce! Tune your bike and see you on Wilshire Blvd. this Sunday!
